SMITHFIELD — An equipment failure caused a small sewage spill on Thursday near Clayton, the county’s Public Utilities Department reported. An air-release valve on a pressure sewer main failed, spilling about 3,000 gallons of raw sewage into a tributary of Reedy Branch. Kraken Skulls holds 1st annual golf tournament
The first annual Kraken Triple 9 Golf Tournament is coming up on August 3. It will be located at King’s Grant Golf & Country Club, a par 71, championship-style 18-hole semi-private facility located at 347 Shawcroft Road in Fayetteville. A Florida-based real estate company announced plans last year to build a $40 million, 44-acre shopping center on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. Located across from Lowe's and Ollie's Bargain Outlet, Rob Tanner, owner of developer Impeccable Development told The Fayetteville Observer in October that a big-box retailer is slated to take the 147,583-square-foot anchor store at the new shopping center.

In July, the Brunswick County Planning Board considered and approved a text amendment to its Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), a document that guides development in the county. Atlantic Beach and Morehead City fire departments hailed for teen marsh rescue
Atlantic Beach Fire Department and Morehead City Fire-EMS were given a big thanks for their rescue efforts recently. According to Morehead City Fire-EMS there was a call on Tuesday July 23 regarding three young teens that were trapped in the marsh of Calico Creek. Within minutes all three teens were rescued and returned safely to shore. Morehead City Police Officers also rendered assistance in keeping traffic under control.
