Technology cyber attack impacts banks, hospitals and businesses
A global technology outage caused by a faulty software update grounded flights, disrupted hospitals, banks, businesses and government offices on Friday. North Collier Hospital said the only impact they had was to their voice detection system, meaning people had to type their notes versus verbal dictation, but other than that, there were no issues.
Christian Brothers Automotive to open Port Charlotte shop
Houston-based automotive repair franchise Christian Brothers Automotive is opening a Port Charlotte location at 24130 Beatrix Blvd. today. Joining more than 290 locations nationwide, this marks the brand’s second shop in the market and the second for local franchise owner Marcia Krumenacker, who operated a Commerce City, Colorado, location before relocating to Florida. The new shop offers professional automotive care services from simple upkeep and repairs to preventative maintenance. Additionally, it offers a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, complimentary shuttle rides and a free courtesy check with every repair. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
Lehigh Acres man on the run after stealing from homes, selling items to pawnshops
LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Detectives are searching for a Lehigh Acres man after he failed to show up to court on a charge of providing false information to a pawnbroker. Fisherman’s Village hits the market
Waterfront shopping and dining destination Fishermen’s Village went up for sale this week through a call offers process. The property was previously operated by Jonathan Larmore, who was removed from his control of the Punta Gorda property in favor of court-appointed PGFL Associates LLC, when it was placed in receivership in October 2023. SVN Commercial Partners was appointed to market Fishermen’s Village. To date, SVN Commercial Partners has sent out 80 requested nondisclosure agreements and received 35 executed documents in return. The 22.8-acre property includes 85,549 square feet of retail space, 47 hotel rooms, 116 wet slips and 604 parking spaces. The asking price wasn’t disclosed, but Punta Gorda City Attorney David Levin speculated during a March 20 City Council meeting that the asking price could be at least $30 million.
