Three years after breaking ground, the long-anticipated, 18-acre St. Regis Longboat Key Resort is opening on Wednesday, Aug. 14. After it opens, the public can access the St. Regis spa, which has a snow shower (seriously!) and any one of its seven restaurants and bars. But there won't be any day passes to enjoy the pools, which include a winding river, a resort swimming pool, a serenity pool and a fully stocked saltwater lagoon teeming with tropical wildlife. Lightning strike sparks 4-acre brush fire at Cape Coral's Charlotte Harbor Buffer Preserve
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral firefighters battled a 4-acre brush fire at the Charlotte Harbor Buffer Preserve Saturday afternoon. According to the Cape Coral Fire Department, at around 1:40 p.m., crews responded to the scene off Burnt Store Road N., where the flames were reportedly caused by a lightning strike. Officials say the fire is 100% contained at this time.
