SEATTLE — Former mayor of Seattle and KING 5 News anchor Charles "Charley" Royer passed away Friday morning, July 26. Royer was Seattle's longest-serving mayor, serving three terms from 1978 to 1990. As mayor, he worked to establish low-income housing measures in the city, implemented what is recognized as the national model of recycling and solid waste reduction, opened over 20 community health clinics, and more, according to a press release published on behalf of the family. In 1989, the National Urban Coalition even named Royer the Distinguished Urban Mayor of the Year.

Town & Country Markets debuts in-store restaurant
Seattle-area grocery chain Town & Country Markets is taking on restaurants with the debut of a market-to-table restaurant called Field House. The grocer collaborated with chef and restaurateur Ethan Stowell on the concept’s menu, which serves up “classic favorites drawing inspiration from the markets’ pantries, seasonal ingredients and regional purveyors,” the announcement said.

Home from Iraq, after returning to Army service to establish the National Police College in Baghdad, Larry honored Lakewood with tireless community service benefiting our Boys & Girls Club, our two Rotary Clubs, local veterans and neighborhood associations, and the Lakewood Community Foundation Fund (LCFF).
