Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) confirmed its new chief, Rear Adm. Seiko Okano, following Rear Adm. Doug Small’s retirement. USS Halsey returns to Naval Base San Diego
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey returned to Naval Base San Diego Aug. 16, following a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet. Halsey departed San Diego on Jan. 10 as part of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group and served as a carrier escort before detaching to conduct independent operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
Reid Fisher Named WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year
SAN DIEGO – Reid Fisher of the San Diego State men’s soccer team was named the WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches. Fisher led the Aztecs in minutes last season while anchoring the Aztec back line and was named a Freshman All-American by College Soccer News and the Pac-12 Freshman of the year.
