With about one month completed in the American Legion baseball season, let's take a brief look at which players are lighting it up at the plate and/or on the mound for Washington County's two 19U teams, Boonsboro Post 10 and Funkstown Post 211 , so far.
Boonsboro Post 10
The Patriots, who are the defending Western Maryland District champions, are 13-4 and swept Funkstown in a three-game series this week. They rallied from a 7-0 deficit after two innings to stun the Skunks 8-7 on Wednesday, scoring all of their runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Boonsboro's top players so far are:
Joey Nicholson — Nicholson is hitting .462 (18-for-39) with six doubles, two triples, three home runs, 13 RBIs, 24 runs scored, 12 walks and 16 steals. He also is 1-0 with one save, a 0.00 ERA and nine strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings pitched.
Seojun Kim — Kim is hitting .400 (16-for-40) with four doubles, six RBIs, 12 runs scored and seven walks.
Jordany Anderson — Anderson is hitting .326 (15-for-46) with three doubles, three homers, 10 RBIs, 15 runs scored, six walks and eight steals.
Chase Cassera — Cassera is hitting .317 (13-for-41) with seven RBIs, 11 runs scored and six walks.
Hunter Barnes — In limited action, Barnes is hitting .412 (7-for-17) with a double, a homer, 10 RBIs and six walks. He is 1-0 with a 1.62 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 8 2/3 innings, and struck out 10 over 6 2/3 innings against Funkstown on Tuesday.
Fredy Diaz — In limited action, Diaz is hitting .381 (8-for-21) with a double, a triple, five RBIs, 11 runs scored, six walks and seven steals.
Greyfer Martinez — Martinez is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with five RBIs, seven runs scored, five walks and five steals.
Preston Yost — Yost is 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA, 10 walks and 12 strikeouts over 14 innings. He pitched a one-hitter to beat Brunswick on June 6.
Nick Piemarini — In his only start, against Charleston on June 29, Piemarini earned a complete-game victory, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out eight.
Vinnie Grossman — Grossman is 2-1 with a 3.20 ERA over 15 1/3 innings.

Funkstown Post 211
The Skunks are 12-5 this season. Funkstown's top players so far are:
Will Oates — Oates is hitting .516 (16-for-31) with three doubles, a triple, five RBIs, 15 runs scored, six walks and six steals.
Heath Githens — Githens is 2-1 with one save, a 1.26 ERA, one walk and 16 strikeouts over 16 2/3 innings. He struck out 10 without giving up a walk in a complete-game victory over Damascus Post 171 on June 15.
Bryson Hutzell — Hutzell is hitting .366 (15-for-41) with four doubles, a triple, 10 RBIs, eight runs scored and seven steals.
Camden Mertz — Mertz is hitting .344 (11-for-32) with three doubles and 11 RBIs. He is 1-0 with a 2.05 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 13 2/3 innings.
Luke Bragunier — Bragunier is hitting .308 (12-for-39) with a double, four homers, 13 RBIs and nine runs scored.
Chase Sarber — Sarber has a 2.05 ERA and 18 striekouts over 13 2/3 innings pitched. He threw a one-hit shutout with two walks and 11 strikeouts against Mount Airy on June 12.
Cam Kelley -- In limited action, Kelley has a 3.41 ERA with 11 walks and 16 strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings, and is hitting .364 (4-for-11).
Jaxon Teson — Teson is hitting .348 (8-for-23) with five RBIs and six runs scored.
Nick Petruzzello — Pettruzzelo is hitting .268 (11-for-41) with five doubles, a triple, five RBIs, 14 runs scored, 11 walks and five steals.
Mac Stiffler — In his only start, against Damascus on June 21, the West Virginia-bound Stiffler struck out nine over five shutout innings.
