Oppose Mitchell Field boat launch
I oppose this idea of a large boat launch, with all that goes with it, at Mitchell Field. The recent disclosure that this could cost the town and its taxpayers more than $1.9 million seals it for me — not that I thought this was a good idea in the first place. The fact that there will need to be a large parking lot for the large trucks and trailers and a huge, paved turnaround will change the entire character of the area.

Harpswell’s historic meetinghouse, completed in 1759, came into existence at a time of upheaval, a time when tempers ran high, a time when the widening gap between a new breed of patriot and those who remained loyal to King George III was becoming untenable, a time in which a new country was on the verge of being formed.
