LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Since the online portal opened on July 1, applications for the limited number of medical cannabis business licenses haven't exactly flooded the system. As of Monday, July 22, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services said the Kentucky Medical Cannabis Program had received a total of just 18 applications: five total for Cultivator licenses (3 for Tier I, 1 for Tier II, and 1 for Tier III), two total for Processor licenses, and 11 total for Dispensary licenses.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have now been found in six Louisville zip codes this year. The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness said in a news release Friday that the mosquitoes were found in the 40202, 40212 and 40215 zip codes. Churchill Downs Inc. posted a record of more than $890M in net revenue for the second quarter of the year after the “historical success” of the 150th Kentucky Derby, according to Olivia Evans of the Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL. Supported by a record $37.6M revenue increase during Derby week, this indicates Churchill Downs' “move to focus on a variety of gaming segments including brick-and-mortar gaming venues and online sports betting has proven fruitful.” The company saw its live and historical horseracing segment revenue increase 20% compared to the same quarter of last year.
