Core Spaces to Develop Three Student Housing Communities Near University of Wisconsin-Madison
Madison, Wis. — Core Spaces will develop three student housing communities totaling 4,000 beds near the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. The developments are set for delivery between 2026 and 2028 and will include a 12-story community offering 910 beds at the intersection of West Johnson and North Bassett streets; a 15-story, 1,723-bed property offering studio through five-bedroom units and townhomes at the intersection of West Johnson and North Broom streets; and a 15-story, 1,330-bed property located at the intersection of North Frances and West Johnson streets. 10 Percent of beds at the West Johnson and North Broom Street development will be offered at a 40 percent discount to average market rates. All three properties will offer amenities including rooftop swimming pools, outdoor grilling areas, fitness center, co-working spaces and private study rooms. Treehouse Builders and Madison-based Findorff will serve as general contractors for each of the new projects.
Madison Fire Department rescues drivers stranded in flood waters
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Madison Fire Department assisted several drivers stranded in flood waters during Sunday night’s severe thunderstorms. MFD responded to six calls in various locations. Some of these calls came in within minutes of each other. The first call came just before 7:45 p.m. between Aberg Avenue and N. Sherman Avenue. Two other calls were between East Johnson Street and Third Street. The remaining were near Ruskin Street, Windom Way and Northport Drive.

I currently work at Station 1 (W. Dayton Street) on the 'C' shift. I had the opportunity to do a ride-along with the Madison Fire Department my senior year of high school. I was impressed by the professionalism and the high-quality care that was provided by the crew. The firefighters on shift that day really made me feel welcomed and explained exactly what they were doing, and why, in a way that I understood at the time without having any prior experience. This opportunity solidified my desire to join the fire service after high school.
Sheriff’s Office identifies man killed when his motorcycle struck a tree in the roadway
DE SOTO, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports a motorcyclist was killed when they struck a tree that had fallen on the road near De Soto early Sunday morning.
