Red Sox prospect suspended for positive PED test

The Boston Red Sox organization got some bad news on Friday, as one of their minor league pitchers, Charlie Zink, was suspended by the MLB for 56 games due to a positive performance-enhancing drug test.

Zink, 18, was signed as an international free agent back in December out of Willemstad, Curacao. As a right-handed starter, he's appeared in four games for the Dominican Summer League Red Sox, posting an 8.53 ERA and a 1.89 WHIP while striking out five.

Boston's farm system is already low on talented young arms, so any pitcher losing development time is a negative for the team at this point.
