"The fans are going to pay the price" - Robert Horry shares why there is a problem with all these players getting big contracts

Jayson Tatum 's five-year, $314 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics has made him the highest-paid player in NBA history. It's a massive deal, and analysts expect salaries to increase in the coming years.

Former NBA player Robert Horry echoes the same sentiments. While he's happy for the players, he believes the fans will suffer in the long run.

    Crazy money

With player salaries going up, the former Los Angeles Lakers forward pointed out that ticket and concession prices will also go up. This is just how the law of supply and demand works.

However, there's a viable solution for lowering prices so that fans can still enjoy the game live. If the NBA adds a few more teams, it will have more revenue sources across the company.

"It's getting crazy," Horry said , per The Dan Patrick Show. "I'm happy for these guys to get their money. But what I'm going to look back at is the fans are going to pay the price. Ticket prices are going to go up. The concession stands are going to go up, and it's just going to get priced out at some point. Hopefully, they can add a couple more teams and make a little bit more money across the league. But it's going to get bananas pretty soon."

    Las Vegas and Seattle

According to the grapevine, new NBA teams are being eyed in Las Vegas and Seattle. Many factors will come into play, such as TV deals, ownership, and the actual demand for a team.

Kurt Badenhausen, a sports valuations reporter at Sportico, discussed the potential future of the NBA's expansion teams. According to him, new NBA teams will be in Las Vegas and Seattle in 2030.

"People are working behind the scenes right now, this isn't like the NBA goes out on December 1st of 2024, and the NBA says, 'Oh, we're looking to expand.' People are lining up getting behind these potential situations so you could see something move really quickly where, you know, 12 months you have everything all locked up. I think before 2030, people will be taking the courts in these two cities," Badenhausen said .

Some say that LeBron James is eyeing buying the team in Vegas, which adds another layer of excitement to the story. Whatever the case may be, it's sure to be a great era for NBA fans. With these new teams, hopefully, the prices will go down so more fans can watch live.
