Jaylen Brown Breaks Silence On Team USA Snub With Unexpected Message

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons after his name was dragged into a full-blown Team USA controversy. To be fair, he brought it upon himself after his supposed cryptic tweets about Kawhi Leonard's national team exit went viral.

During Brown's ESPYs appearance last week, the reigning NBA Finals MVP dodged a loaded question about the Team USA issue. This time around, however, the three-time All-Star decided to finally break his silence.

"I wasn’t surprised," Brown said when asked about his reaction to being overlooked as Leonard's potential injury replacement on the squad. "I love to have so many of our guys on there, so I was happy for those guys. But I wasn't surprised.”

Based on his immediate reaction to the news on X, some fans might have expected Brown to go scorched-earth over USA Basketball's decision to snub him. The Celtics forward, however, has chosen to take the high-road approach here by playing down the entire controversy.

With Derrick White being chosen as Leonard's replacement, Boston has three representatives on the national team, with Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday also headed to Paris for the Olympics.

As Brown said, he's just happy for his guys.
