Jaylen Brown Reveals Message To Derrick White After Team USA Snub

Eyebrows raised across the basketball world earlier this month when Jaylen Brown publicly called out Team USA for passing on another opportunity to add him to the Olympic roster.

The powers that be replaced a still-recovering Kawhi Leonard with Derrick White instead, eliciting controversial comments from the reigning NBA Finals MVP that ostensibly risked a rift within the champion Boston Celtics.

During a Monday appearance at Las Vegas Summer League, though, Brown revealed that he went out of his way to ensure White knows he holds no ill will toward his Celtics teammate.

"I called Derrick right away," Brown told reporters, per ESPN. "Just to make sure there's no confusion, my love for you and all of that. He knew that, and he did. You don't always gotta make everything public. Me and D-White are good."

Brown stoked drama on July 10th by posting three monocle emojis on Twitter after it was announced that White would be taking Leonard's place on the American's roster for the upcoming Paris Olympics. He went a step further the following day, alluding to his fractured relationship with USA Basketball endorser Nike for his perceived snub.

Brown also doubled down Monday night on his assertion that Nike played a role in him being left off Team USA. That hot-button story isn't going anywhere.

For the sake of Boston's hopes of repeating as champs in 2024-25, at least the notion that Brown's remarks will mar the unflappable team chemistry which helped the Celtics finally raise banner No. 18 has been put to bed for good.
