Look of the Day for Tue. 7/23: Hot hand, big price

Look of the Day: Boston Red Sox @ Colorado Rockies over 11 (-110 BetMGM ), 8:40 p.m. ET

The Red Sox are taking on the Rockies in an interleague matchup on Tuesday night, and we're expecting a high-scoring affair in this one.

Let's begin with the starting pitchers. Red Sox starter Cooper Criswell has a 2.86 ERA through his first eight starts of the season, but it's only gone downhill since then. The right-hander has given up 18 earned runs in his last 23.1 innings of work. He doesn't generate enough swings and misses (18.9 percent whiff rate), and he's pitched only once since June 15.

On the other side, Ty Blach is rejoining Colorado's starting rotation after four straight appearances out of the bullpen. The southpaw has been dreadful this season, ranking in the first percentile in xERA (6.24) and xBA (.314) and the second percentile in pitching run value (-14). He also gives up a high barrel rate (11.0 percent). The Red Sox are the most strikeout-prone team in MLB against lefties, but Blach ranks in the first percentile in whiff rate and strikeout rate.

Boston and Colorado had to use a combined 11 pitchers out of the bullpen on Monday night due to extra innings, so both units will be thin for this matchup. The Rockies bullpen already has the highest ERA and WHIP in the league, so it will be a challenge to keep the Red Sox off the scoreboard.
