BRIGHTON - Video showed a turkey violently attacking a parked car in Boston for 15 minutes. The motive may be linked to its reflection.

    Turkey attacks car

It happened last week, on July 15, on Cummings Road in Brighton. Alicia Mastroianni left her home to go to work at Boston Children's Hospital when she found a note on her car, which had several new scratches all over it.

"All sides of my car were messed up, like, completely scratched," Mastroianni told WBZ-TV. "I saw the note, I was like, 'Oh gosh, someone hit my car."

Then she read the note from a friendly neighbor who recorded it all on video and let her know a turkey was responsible.

"It says, 'I just watched and recorded a massive turkey attack your car for over 15 minutes,'" Mastroianni said as she read from the note. "'Sorry you were the target of this turkey rage.'"

Mastroianni sent the video to her father. "He like, just laughed," she said.

    Turkey video goes viral

And then her friends had a brilliant idea. "My friends were like, no, you have to put this on TikTok ," Mastroianni said. So she did and it went viral, with millions of views. Mastroianni said the music choice was meant for a situation like this.

"The only words in it are 'Oh no, no, no, no,'" she said.

Turkey attacks are not rare anymore in Massachusetts. Cambridge and Dedham made headlines recently for turkeys intimidating people and vandalizing vehicles. If they're bothering you, call the environmental police . The Division of Fisheries and Wildlife has also posted advice online

    Why turkeys attack

As for why the turkeys act aggressively, Massachusetts Environmental Police said there are several reasons, most notably - they see their own reflection on a car and attack. You can cover your car to prevent a turkey attack and if you see one, get loud and scare it away.

Thanks to the video, Mastroianni has proof of what happened and the damage to her car will be covered by insurance.

"Who's going to believe that a turkey attacks your car in Boston?" she said. "You just got to take it with a light heart and laugh it off."
