Jayson Tatum's Three-Word Advice For Joel Embiid After Team USA Benching

So much for hand-wringing about Jayson Tatum's DNP in Team USA's impressive win over Nikola Jokic and Serbia to begin the 2024 Olympics.

Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid suffered the same fate as his Boston Celtics counterpart on Wednesday, failing to get off the bench as the Americans dispatched of South Sudan, 103-86.

The win moved Team USA to 2-0, clinching Steve Kerr's squad a berth in the Olympic quarterfinals. But the Americans finish Group C action against Puerto Rico on Saturday, a game for which Kerr has already clarified that Embiid will be back on the floor for tipoff.

After already going from bench-warmer versus Serbia to starter against South Sudan, does Tatum have any advice for Embiid going forward?

"Expect the unexpected,” he said, per Shaun Powell of NBA.com. “You never know when you’re going to be out there."

Kerr has continued stressing the need for Team USA's stars to forget their NBA roles, reputations and accomplishments on the path to Olympic gold.

While that approach has certainly sparked controversy over the Americans' first two games in Paris, it's also helped a team that's been together for barely a month scrape its sky-high ceiling while taking down Serbia and South Sudan.

We'll find out Saturday if Team USA can muster that same all-for-one mindset against Puerto Rico, heading into the Olympic knockout stage undefeated.
