Team USA has been a touchy subject when it comes to Jaylen Brown.

Despite having a spectacular 2023-24 campaign for the Boston Celtics that saw him win an NBA title, East Finals MVP, and Finals MVP, Brown ended up being left off the Team USA roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Grant Hill, Team USA's managing director, said it was a basketball decision to leave Brown off the roster in favor of players like Brown's Celtics teammate Derrick White who provide a better fit to the team. However, it came at the cost of Hill calling Brown a conspiracy theorist, souring the relationship between the two.

Hill returned to the situation when speaking to Showtime Sports' Rachel Nichols on an episode of "Open Run." Understanding that things could've been handled better, he hopes to fix things with Brown by conversing with him about being part of Team USA's roster in 2028 when the country hosts the Olympics in Los Angeles.

"I've tried to do this the right way... I called Jaylen Brown... I'm confident he and I will sit down at some point and talk about it... He'll be a candidate if he wants in 2028 [Olympics in Los Angeles]," Hill said.

It could certainly assist the process of allowing Brown to see that Hill's intentions are good and not malicious. After all, Brown wishes for the opportunity to represent the U.S. at the global stage as he's entering the best years of his basketball career.

Brown's last appearance for Team USA was in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, showing that his time to showcase his best traits for his country is on the horizon. And for Hill's sake, it will be in the West Coast in 2028.
