The Mariners boldly answer the question “how can it get any worse” with loud, unhinged laughter and a series loss to the Angels
A phrase I am not fond of, despite sometimes saying I am, and it is one I find myself using quite often. When something in my life goes sour, or I experience a setback, I apply those words internally to the wound in an effort to make coping easier. I don't know about you, but in my family when I was a kid, the goal was always to go to college. Both of my parents were college educated. All of my siblings went to college, I was the youngest in my family, and I was expected to go to college as well. I went to what is now called Central Washington University. (Back then, it was State College.)

Mariners' Matt Brash: Set to begin throwing next month
Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Brash (elbow) will begin a throwing program in mid-August, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Brash underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery May 8 but looks to be progressing well in the early stages of his rehab. He shed a protective brace on his elbow a little over a month ago and will take the first meaningful step forward in his recovery when he begins throwing in a few weeks. If he continues to experience no setbacks with his throwing program late in the season and throughout the offseason, Brash could be ready to face hitters by the end of spring training, but he'll still almost certainly open the 2025 campaign on the injured list.
