Travis Hunter trashes Colorado offensive line with brutal comment while playing video game

Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter brutally suggested his own program’s offensive line plays "very realistic" on EA’s College Football 25 because “they can’t block for nothing.”

Deion Sanders was brought in as head coach before last season to turn the Buffaloes around, and the school became the noisiest project in college football. Colorado represented one of the great stories of the 2023 college football season when it started the year with three successive wins. But a blowout loss to Oregon began a painful run to the finish line.

The Buffaloes’ stampede to greatness then came undone, as offensive line struggled to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who was left running for his life en route to a 4-8 record.

Following the release of the highly-anticipated College Football 25 game , Hunter - who caught 57 passes for 721 yards and five touchdowns last year on offense while logging three interceptions and 30 tackles on the defensive side - played as the Buffaloes while streaming himself online. He was live streaming the game after receiving early access, and his comment threw fans off ahead of the upcoming college football season.

One of his viewers on the live stream asked if the offensive line’s poor play in the video game was "realistic," and Hunter responded by trolling his teammates. After getting sacked on an audacious attempt to convert on 4th-and-22 while down 36-86, Hunter said: “Yes, very realistic. They can't block for nothing.”

Last season, Colorado's offensive line was one of the worst in the nation. The unit surrendered an average of 4.67 sacks per game last season, ranking last among all 133 qualified FBS teams.

Coach Prime’s recruitment strategy focuses on utilizing the transfer pool to bolster his program rather than offering scholarships to high school recruits. Ahead of last season, Colorado secured commitments from 22 high school recruits and brought in 50 transfers.

While the recruitment strategy has been a success with commitments from seven four-star recruits, Colorado has suffered an exodus ahead of the 2024 NFL season. The Buffaloes have lost 10 players to the transfer portal, including offensive tackles Isaiah Jatta and Savion Washington - a concern for Shedeur, who led the nation in sacks (52) last season.

The offensive line needs to improve ahead of the 2024 season. Especially if Coach Prime and Colorado are going to receive as much attention as they did in Year 1 of his revolution.
