    Where good news shines

Colorado golfers knew about Walker Franklin.

Now the $250,000 Inspirato Colorado Open will have the opportunity to meet him.

Franklin, a Denver product who plays his college golf at UT-San Antonio, shot a 5-under-par 66 at CommonGround Golf Course in a Colorado Open qualifier Monday.

That score was good enough to put the 22-year-old Prospect Ridge Academy graduate into the 60th Colorado Open field July 25-28 at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

Former CU-Boulder student Eric Beringer shot 65 and also qualified for the premier state open in the country. Five players shared medalist honors with 65s.

Sixty-five players competed in the fifth and final qualifier Monday. Nine professionals and Walker earned their spot in the championship. A total of 50 players will be in the Colorado Open field.
