Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders Earns Massive NFL Comparison

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is widely viewed as one of the top prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, and CBS Sports analyst Emory Hunt has a massive comparison for the son of Deion Sanders (who is also Shedeur’s coach).

Hunt cites Sanders’ resolve and collectiveness in his Burrow comparison, noting that he expects the Colorado star to post bigger numbers in 2024 with improved offensive line play.

Sanders began his collegiate career at Jackson State and got off to a fantastic start, throwing for 3,231 yards, 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions during his freshman campaign and winning the Southwestern Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year award.

The following year, Sanders was even better, racking up 3,732 yards, 40 touchdowns and six picks while completing 70.6 percent of his throws.

Sanders then transferred to Colorado in 2023.

In his first year with the Buffaloes, Sanders totaled 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions, completing 69.3 percent of his passes. However, Colorado went just 4-8.

So, exactly what type of NFL prospect is Sanders?

It’s hard to say for sure.

While he certainly has solid arm talent and has displayed considerable toughness, he doesn’t have elite athleticism, which could make life difficult for Sanders in an evolving league that places significant emphasis on dual-threat quarterbacks.

That being said, most mock drafts have Sanders penciled in as a top-10 pick. Many have him going in the top five, and some even think he will be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft next spring.

We’ll see what type of year Shedeur Sanders has in 2024 and whether it helps or hurts his draft stock.
