Greg McElroy Reveals Deion Sanders, Colorado Football's 'Ceiling' for 2024 Season

Despite struggling last season there is still plenty of hype around the Colorado Buffaloes. Deion Sanders made some big improvements to the coaching staff and roster as this team looks ready for the upcoming season. With that said, ESPN's Greg McElroy breaks down his expectations for Sanders and Colorado.
During his latest episode of Always College Football , McElroy claims the Buffaloes are a prime bowl team for the 2024 season. However, he doesn't picture a world where Colorado makes an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
Although Sanders and the Colorado football program made noticeable improvements, it might not be enough for the team to go on a postseason run. McElroy categorizes the Buffaloes as a "see it to believe it" team this year.
"Colorado, I do believe is bowl-game bound this year."
The Buffaloes finished last season with a measly 4-8 record after starting the year 3-0. So, if Sanders can lead Colorado to a bowl-game this season then that would certainly be an improvement.
There were numerous issues with the roster and Sanders addressed most of those needs. As McElroy points out, Colorado has an entirely new offensive line. That should help reduce the 52 sacks from last season. Additionally, Shedeur Sanders improving his play in the pocket will help that issue as well.
ESPN analyst Greg McElroy talks to the media during media day before the College Football Playoff national championship game against the Michigan Wolverines at George R Brown Convention Center.
On top of that, the Buffaloes should have better play from the defensive line. Sanders reeled in plenty of talent through the transfer portal ranking Colorado No. 8 in the nation in that category this offseason. They also faired well in recruiting , ranking 22 in the nation, according to 247 Sports.
Between beefing up the trenches and maintaining several key players, the Buffaloes could make some noise in the Big 12 this season. But it's fair to remain skeptical about how far this Colorado team can go. Especially considering how challenging the schedule is for this program.
There aren't any notable "gimme" games on the schedule this year as each matchup has potential of giving the Sanders and the Buffaloes a run for their money. Colorado opens the season up against North Dakota State, a team who has made a FCS Division 1 playoff appearance 14 straight seasons.
Although the Bisons are technically a smaller program in college football, they should a tough contest for Colorado. Other notable matchups on the Buffaloes roster includes Nebraska, UCF, Kansas State, Arizona, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Utah, and Oklahoma State.
