The Western Kentucky University men’s basketball team and first-year head coach Hank Plona picked up their first commitment for 2025 with a pledge from Woodford County rising senior Armelo Boone.

Boone, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard, is rated a three-star prospect, the third-best player in the state and the 69th at his position nationally. As a junior last season at Frederick Douglass, Boone produced 20.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. In 2022-23, Boone posted 16 points and six rebounds per outing. He’ll close his high school career at Woodford County after transferring.
