MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A fight between neighbors turned deadly after police said a woman turned to violence after confronting a man about his loose dogs on her property in Boyds.

Now, the family of Marvin Guevara Guevara is demanding answers.

Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) was called to the 20200 block of Bucklodge Road around 7:30 p.m. on June 14 after receiving an alarming call from the Guevara Guevara family that a woman had hit Guevara Guevara in the head.

“My husband said he crossed his arms trying to protect himself. He didn’t hit her. He covered his face and immediately started feeling awful,” said Sandra Beltran, wife of Guevara Guevara.

According to Beltran, her husband rushed home to help his daughter in law after their neighbor aggressively knocked on their door, demanding them to remove their dogs from their property.

Beltran said her husband then went to apologize and take the dogs from the adjacent property of theirs. However, she said her neighbors allegedly hurdled insults at them and turned to violence and aggression when they were trying to retrieve their dogs.

“He’s no longer here,” Beltran said, as she wiped tears from her face.

According to Beltran, her husband was accompanied by their 10-year-old daughter and their daughter-in-law, Flor Flores, when they went to go look for their dogs.

Flores captured video after the chaos erupted that shows her neighbors yelling at the Guevara Guevara’s.

Flores told DC News Now she feared for her life and her soon-to-be born child that her father-in-law was looking forward to meeting.

“I’m worried about him and I’m worried about his daughter too, because she’s scared and she’s just 10 years old. It’s too much for her,” Flores said.

Beltran described her husband as a gentle soul who was loved by many within his Christian community and around Montgomery County. She said they were inseparable and would often go to church together to roll out food drives with their church.

According to Beltran, Guevara Guevara was discharged 11 days after being in a coma and returned home, giving her hope that he would soon fully recover.

However, he was rushed back to the hospital Friday night after he continuously threw up and complained about extreme headaches.

Two days later on Sunday, she received the news she didn’t expect — that he had passed away.

“My daughter draws photos of my husband. She tells him, ‘Daddy, I’m always going to love you,’” Beltran said. “Our children were everything to him.”

MCPD is investigating this case and a full autopsy is underway. However, Beltran said it could take up two months for them to get the answers her family is tirelessly looking for.
