Phony Cop Scam Makes It's Way To Another South Florida City

A scam involving phony police officers has made its way to another South Florida city.

Boynton Beach Police are now warning residents about people posing as cops with their agency, calling residents and claiming that they have warrants out for their arrest. The caller then requests that funds be sent through Cash App to avoid arrest.

Police say they don't call residents to inform them of arrest warrants nor do they request money to avoid arrest.

The department wants to hear from anyone who has gotten a call like this at their non-emergency line of 561-732-8116.

This same type of scam has been reported in multiple cities and by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
