    Retired RN Club of Manatee-Sarasota resumes monthly luncheon at Westminster Manor

    Attention all retired Registered Nurses.

    The Retired RN Club of Manatee-Sarasota wants you!

    Beginning Sept. 9, the club will resume hosting a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on the first Monday of each month at Westminster Manor, 1700 21st Ave. W., Bradenton.

    There will be a special guest speaker at each luncheon as well as the company of your fellow RNs. The club also facilitates a foundation that provides scholarships for RN students at State College of Florida.

    · The Fourth of July was extra meaningful for Kimberly and Trey Andricks, who named son Reece’s new baby brother, Blake.

    · Well done to Senior Ranger Jerry Miller. His passion for conservation, land preservation and protecting native wildlife in the Duette Preserve has earned recognition as July Employee of the Month for Manatee County.

    · Betty Jean Swofford Evans is 103 years young.

    · The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office just recognized some more folks for the extraordinary length of their careers serving the agency and community. They are Records Director Sharon Chasteen (35 years) and False Alarm Reduction Unit Clerk Lesleigh Johnson (35), as well as Sgt. John Sutton (30) and Public Safety Telecommunicator II Gayle Sinkler (30).

    · Gail Hedrick is 39. Again.

    · So is Darcie Duncan.

    · And congrats to James Hobert Lawson.

    A 1957 Manatee County High grad, he’ll be inducted into the MHS Athletic Hall of Honor on Oct. 17.

    Mentored by coaches such as Wheeler Leeth and George Strauss, Lawson was a member of the 1955 Western Conference Championship football team and was also the state record holder in 1956 in the low hurdles (20.2) for the Hurricanes track team.

    Lawson went onto a career as a lineman with Florida Power & Light for 36 years.

    He and wife Joyce have been married 67 years.

    · Mack Doss is 77.

    · Last but not least, the 14th annual Manatee PAL Golf Classic, a big fundraiser for this vital nonprofit, is set for Monday, Nov. 4. Registration forms can be found online at manateepal.org or at the PAL Office, 202 13th Ave. E., Bradenton. For more details, call 941-747-1118.
