Greenville VFW Singles Dance scheduled
GREENVILLE – Greenville VFW Post 7262 is sponsoring the Darke County Singles Dances, with the next dance scheduled for Saturday, July 27th. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance is from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with a $9 cover charge. The band Hearts on Fire will perform.
City of Greenville maintenance paving project bids accepted
Sealed Bids for the construction of the Maintenance Paving 2024 will be received by the City of Greenville, Ohio, at the office of the Board of Control, c/o Megan Bailey, 100 Public Square, Greenville, OH 45331, until 10:00 a.m. local time on August 6, 2024 at which time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read. The Project consists of constructing This project involves the resurfacing of several streets within the City of Greenville. Specific work is to include the milling of existing asphalt, and the placement of tack coat, new asphalt, pavement markings, and spot full-depth repair. Traffic shall be maintained throughout the project. The engineer’s estimate for this project is $1,699,794.00.

Piqua Commission hears ordinance to change meeting rules
PIQUA — The Piqua City Commission introduced an ordinance to adopt new rules for future commission meetings during on Tuesday, July 16. Some of the new updated rules for meetings would include: not continuing meetings after 9 p.m.; ensuring all comments are related to city business or activities; and instituting a public comment request card which will be monitored throughout public comment sessions.

Volunteers participate in Clean Sweep of Great Miami River
SIDNEY — Volunteers once again climbed into boats and started hunting for trash as they took part in the annual Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River on Friday morning. “The main goal is to remove trash from the river. Tires are a big thing. Second aim is to make people aware of the river so they know it needs to be taken care of,” Sidney Storm Water Technician Gregg Mitchell said. “Bring awareness to the importance of clean water the importance of the river to our town.”
