Boy, do I identify with this one. There's a new study that claims that one out of every three people in Illinois are 'always tired'. I need a nap. How about you?. This is an interesting new study from Talker which sampled a huge amount of people to learn about their energy level (or lack thereof). The big picture takeaway from their questions is that one out of every 3 people say they often or always feel tired even after a good night's sleep. Something is very wrong here.
“Illinois Troops at the Battle of Gettysburg” Leads July 16th TAPS ON TUESDAY
On Tuesday, July 9th, “Taps on Tuesday” was sounded at 6:00 p.m. in a light rain, but the program on “Illinois Troops at the Battle of Gettysburg” was postponed until this week’s “Taps” Program. This week’s program hosts and speakers are Greg Green, Larry Weatherford, and Tara Auter. Rebecca Woodrum will perform the National Anthem, and “Taps” will be presented by Ruth Sowers. “Taps on Tuesday” is held each week between Memorial Day and the day after Labor Day at the Soldiers Circle at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. Presented by the Vermilion County War Museum and the Ward Hill Lamon Civil War Roundtable.

Shooting at Amazon fulfillment center in Matteson leaves woman injured
CHICAGO (CBS) — A shooting was reported at an Amazon fulfillment center in south suburban Matteson, Illinois on Sunday night. Around 9:30 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at the center, on Vollmer Road, and found a woman who suffered a graze wound to her head. The victim, a 33-year-old woman, was taken to Christ Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. According to preliminary reports, the shooting took place in retaliation for an "unreported fight" between employees that took place in the parking lot. Police said this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Police are investigating.
Robbins police chief out amid investigation into "unbelievable" video, as yet hidden from public view
CHICAGO (CBS) — There has been another major shakeup in a south suburban police department. Carl Scott, the acting police chief for the Village of Robbins, has been involved in what was described as a concerning incident, and is now no longer with the department. CBS News Chicago confirmed with the Cook County Sheriff's Office that an investigation into an incident involving Scott is underway. That incident was captured on video and, apparently, was so concerning that when the mayor of Robbins saw it, he moved to fire the chief. Chicago Con Artist Nabbed for Scamming Elderly Victims (Video)
Tejas Kumar Patel, a 21-year-old from Chicago, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of grand theft. Patel allegedly posed as a law enforcement officer to scam elderly victims. In May, he convinced an elderly man in Martin County to pay him $150,000 in gold bars to clear fake arrest warrants. Patel used pictures of what appeared to be legitimate identification to carry out the scam.
Armed robber who got shot by concealed carry holder gets 9-year prison sentence
CHICAGO — A Chicago man who got shot when he tried to rob a concealed carry holder in December 2022 has been handed a nine-year prison sentence. Jeremiah Brown, 19, pleaded guilty this week to attempted robbery in connection with the case. Three juveniles were also accused of participating in the crime.
