Jasmine Akauola Appointed Assistant Principal of Bedwell Elementary School
BERNARDSVILLE- At its Board of Education meeting on June 26, 2024, the Somerset Hills School District approved Mrs. Jasmine Akauola as Assistant Principal of Bedwell Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. Beginning her career in education in 2005, Akauola has taught Pre-K, 3rd grade, 5th grade bilingual, and K-12 ESL. Most recently she served as the Program Supervisor of World Languages and ESL/Bilingual Education for Rahway Public Schools. EDISON, NJ - A high school student from Edison Township is one of seven in the state to receive a scholarship for Advocacy and Support of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation from the NJ Sharing Network. Anika Bhatnagar is a 2024 Middlesex Academy for Allied Health and Biomedical Sciences graduate and the recipient of a scholarship from Missy’s Miracle Scholarship Fund. Sapling from Anne Frank’s chestnut tree takes root at Raritan Valley Community College
BRANCHBURG – Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) has dedicated the planting of a sapling from the original tree mentioned in Anne Frank’s Diary in honor of Anne Frank and the late Margit Feldman, co-founder of RVCC’s Holocaust institute and a survivor of the Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps.

In early 2020, a search for the perfect place to build the new Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey/Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center led the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO) to 165 Somerset St., home of the overcrowded Lincoln Annex School. In exchange for the property, DEVCO negotiated with the project’s major partner, RWJBarnabasHealth, to commit $55 million to build a new school at nearby 50 Jersey Avenue on land donated by the chair of the RWJ University Hospital board and developer Jack Morris.

This board is designed to promote inclusivity by providing a clear and effective means of communication for all students, ensuring that every child can fully participate in playground activities. The grant proposal was prepared by Anthony Passalacqua, a Teacher of Special Education, and Suzanne Morley, a Speech-Language Pathologist. "We are eager to see the positive impact it will have on our students' experiences and interactions," said Passalacqua. Frayne and Max Peri, three rising seniors on the Livingston High School baseball team, represented the Lancers at the Quad-County All-Star Games last Friday at Community Park in North Brunswick. Peri was the starting pitcher for the Essex County team and Frayne and Schultz played the outfield.
