A 6-year-old girl died Sunday after she went missing and was later pulled from a body of water in Brandon, deputies said.

Patrol and K-9 deputies responded shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Kensington Lakes Circle for a report of a child with autism who was missing, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. That block is in the Kensington Estates subdivision off Lumsden Road.

Deputies found the girl, Marcayle Cadet, in a body of water and began lifesaving measures. The girl was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead there, deputies said.

It wasn’t clear Monday where the body of water was in relation to where the girl lived and was reported missing. No other information was immediately available.
