INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time in four years, the NASCAR Cup Series will run the traditional oval configuration at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After the 2020 oval race saw limited passing and a plethora of tire failures, NASCAR decided to experiment at IMS in 2021. It switched to the road course variation, the same circuit that the NTT IndyCar Series runs.

Indy man sentenced to 16 years for aggravated battery, narcotics possession
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man was sentenced to 16 years behind bars on Friday for his involvement in an October 2021 shooting, as well as a narcotics possession charge. On Oct. 18, 2021, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Northwest District responded to a report of a person shot in the 5500 block of W 38th Street. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. She was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, and IMPD said they began an investigation shortly thereafter.
