Residents along portions of Wisconsin’s Little Wolf River were allowed to return home Friday, after authorities said the Manawa Dam was “compromised and has major damage,” prompting them to urge evacuations earlier in the day.
Principal resigns, positive referendum update
Kirsten Budimlija resigned from her position as principal of the Rib Lake middle and high schools following the 2023-2024 school year. The Rib Lake Board of Education voted to accept her resignation on June 26. “We are appreciative for her years of service in our district and for the lasting impacts she made on our students and community,” said District Administrator Travis Grubbs following the meeting. 2 dead, 1 injured in incident in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD, Wis. (WSAW) - Two people are dead and one injured after an incident in Abbotsford early Friday morning. According to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at a residence on the 300 block of Oak Street just after 1:30 a.m. Officers found two dead victims inside the home. They found a third person who was injured. That victim was transported to an area hospital.

Land O’ Lakes organizations working towards conserving around 1,400 acres
LAND O’ LAKES, Wis. (WJFW) - Here in the Northwoods, we are surrounded by nature, and to stay close to nature, sometimes land must be preserved. That's why one community is working to conserve hundreds of acres of forest within their area. Not far from each other in the Land O' Lakes area are two privately owned pieces of property that are currently in the process of being conserved. Joe Hovel, the Director of Partners for Forestry, stated that this wouldn’t be possible without the Forest Legacy Program, designed to help states conserve land for future generations. The program assists states in purchasing land and, in this case, provides additional support.
