An Atlantic City man is jailed in the stabbing of a Bridgeton man Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue just before 10 p.m. for a stabbing.

The victim already had left the area, and was located two blocks away with multiple stab wounds and bleeding heavily, according to the report.

The 27-year-old Bridgeton man had been stabbed in the right arm, left side of his abdomen and lower left leg, according to the charges.

Shortly after a description of the suspect was put out, Officers Dylan Imbrenda and Melvin Murray III found a man walking in the area.

Rashaun Williams, 39, of Atlantic City, was in possession of a pocket knife with a red handle, according to the charges. There was also blood on his clothing.

Officers learned that the victim and Williams — whose last name was released by Atlantic City police as Williams-Brooks — were involved in a physical altercation before the stabbing, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

The injuries were not considered life-threatening.

They were described as "small puncture wounds," Judge Andrew Cafiero said as he read Williams the charges during his first appearance via video Thursday.

Williams will remain jailed pending a detention hearing set for Tuesday.

"I thought it was only two," Williams said when Cafiero told him he faces four charges.

The judge then read the counts to him.

He is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon by a certain person due to a prior aggravated assault conviction.
