East St. Louis, IL – Several southern Illinois state parks are experiencing total closures or road closures due to flash flooding over the past 24 hours. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Frank Holten State Park in East St. Louis is currently closed to all visitors due to severe flooding. The closures are a precaution to ensure visitor safety as water levels continue to rise.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, IL — Flood waters have overtaken parts of the roadway on Interstate 64 in Washington County. The Illinois State Police reported I-64 is now closed between mile markers 50 and 61 with floodwater across the roadway in both directions. Listeners stuck in traffic in that area have reported, “it is barely moving, if at all” in Washington County from Richview to Okawville.
