Mulberry Fork Access Upgraded at Garden City River Park
One of Alabama’s most popular paddling destinations recently received a significant upgrade. State and local officials celebrated the opening of the renovated Garden City River Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 24. The renovations were made possible by a settlement against Tyson Farms for a wastewater spill into the Mulberry Fork of the Black Warrior River.
Ethos Craft Brewing and Bloom Winery coming to Good Hope this fall
GOOD HOPE, Ala. – A new entertainment and dining option is making its way to Good Hope. In early fall, Paul White hopes to open his new craft brewery, Ethos, along with another business, Bloom Winery. The shared space will be an open-air area with bar seating, family sized tables and high-tops for smaller parties and solo visitors. The outside of the building is currently under construction and lacking landscaping, but by the time opening comes around, White said, he hopes to have the entirety of the property fenced in, creating a safe space for families to enjoy without the worry...
Go Platinum Salon offering free haircuts and supplies to K-12 students Aug. 3
CULLMAN, Ala. – Go Platinum Salon will host a back-to-school event offering free haircuts and school supplies for K-12 students. The event will be held on Aug. 3, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Daystar Church. Additionally, the Kool Breeze ice cream truck will be on-site with its selection of ice cream treats. Free haircuts will be available to all students in need, with the service limited to trims and basic clipper cuts to ensure that every student has a chance to participate. Remy Fund: $69K+ awarded to animal nonprofits in Greater Birmingham
If you are an animal lover this is one of the best announcements you will hear all year. Today, The Remy Fund for Pets and Animal Services at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham awarded 11 grants totaling $69,200 to companion animal (dogs, cats, and horses) nonprofit organizations, serving Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Blount, and Walker counties.
