Minnesota Man to Plead Guilty to Charges from High-Speed Pursuit in Northeast Iowa
A Minnesota man will plead guilty to charges connected to leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase earlier this spring that started near New Hampton. On April 12th, a Chickasaw County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on a car driven by 24-year-old Quaddre White of St. Paul was clocked at 98 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 63. White initially pulled over, but then sped away.
Bremer County Fair brings adventures galore in 2024
It’s that wonderful time of year again, fair days. This is the 149th Bremer County Fair, a long and grand tradition, and they just keep getting better. This year continues the move to the new fairgrounds. There will be two events there this season. It’s located on the outskirts of Waverly at 300 39th Street NE.

Northeast Iowa Meat, Poultry Processor Awarded Over $855,000 to Expand
A northeast Iowa meat and poultry processor is getting over three-quarters of a million dollars to expand its operations. USDA Rural Development State Director of Iowa, Theresa Greenfield, Thursday announced that Leonard’s Locker, in Frederika in rural Bremer County, will receive a $855,762 grant from the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP). The USDA investment will allow Leonard’s to increase meat and poultry processing capacity, create more, new and better markets for producers, and lower food costs.
12 years later, investigation into the Evansdale cousins' abduction, murders still active
It's been 12 years since two young girls from Evansdale were abducted and murdered — but investigators are still looking into the case. Elizabeth Collins, 8, and her cousin Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, were abducted on July 13, 2012. Their bodies were found five months later in rural Bremer County, about 25 miles away.

EVANSDALE, Iowa — Saturday marks 12 years since cousins Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins disappeared in Evansdale. Cook was only 10 and Collins only 8 when they were last seen on July 13, 2012, riding bikes near Meyers Lake. Their bodies were found five months later by hunters at Bremer County's Seven Bridges Wildlife Park.
