102-year-old fighter pilot to receive WWII medal of honor from France
A 102-year-old Hendersonville man will soon receive one of France’s highest honors for his service as a fighter pilot during World War II. WWII P-47 pilot Ed Cottrell of Brevard will be bestowed with the French Legion de l’honneur Medal on July 9 at a public ceremony in Brevard. Other American recipients include General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Douglas MacArthur.
