Ashtynn and Alise Carden, graduating seniors at TR Miller High School, have been selected as recipients of the 2024 Koch Family Foundation Dependent Scholarship of $2,000 based on their demonstrated hard work through contributions to their schools and communities. They are the daughters of David and Shellie Carden. David is a 24-year E&I technician in the maintenance department at the Brewton Georgia-Pacific paper mill. Koch Industries is Georgia-Pacific’s parent company.
“Education enables people to discover, develop and apply their talents in ways that self-fulfill and contribute to their communities,” said Jerry Clark, vice-president and mill general manager. “Congratulations to Ashtynn and Alise for earning the Koch Family Foundation Dependent Scholarship through their commitment and hard work. We wish them continued success as they begin the next step of their learning journey.”
The Koch Family Foundation Dependent Scholarship Awards is a competitive scholarship program for high school seniors and undergraduate and skilled-trade students. Scholarships of $2,000 are awarded to qualifying dependents of full-time Koch company employees. This year’s recipients represent 21 different Koch companies across 100 communities in the U.S. and Canada.
“Georgia-Pacific is committed to education, one of four areas of impact under our stewardship framework,” said Curley Dossman, president of Community Programs, Georgia-Pacific and vice President of the Koch Companies Community Fund. “We are proud of each recipient’s unwavering pursuit of excellence, scholarly achievement and parental support, which led to this remarkable accomplishment of being named a 2024 Koch Family Foundation Scholar.”
The scholarship is just one of many initiatives supporting education through the Koch Family Foundation. The Foundation supports the organization’s mission to inspire a new generation of lifelong learners that make lasting contributions to society and their communities.
