Beloved N.J. high school principal dies suddenly a week after graduation
The principal of Bergenfield High School in Bergen County died on Thursday, a week after graduation and after serving 30 years with the district, officials said Friday. James Fasano, 59, led the high school through “a remarkable transformation” that included a spot in U.S. News & World Report’s Best High School rankings for eight consecutive years, according to Superintendent Christopher Tully.

Yonkers My Brother's Keeper explores the 'masks' young men of color wear and project
Students at Roosevelt High School Early College Studies recently participated in a program called, “The Masks We Wear." The students first met to identify words associated with how they feel on the inside, and how they would like the world to see them on the outside. During the second part of the program, the young men made plaster masks of their own faces and wrote their words on the masks.

Hudson Link: From Incarceration to Graduation
“Hudson Link, and college education, is not just a gift for that student, changing his life. It’s a gift for the people who are going back to their families, back to their communities and back to the world we all live in,” says Sean Pica, executive director of Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison. Hudson Link provides college educations, reentry support and life skills to incarcerated people in six correctional facilities, including two in Westchester County – Sing Sing in Ossining, and Taconic in Bedford Hills. The organization currently works with 11 college partners, including Ivy Leaguers like Columbia University, and several local schools – Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, Vassar in Poughkeepsie, Mount Saint Mary in Newburgh, and St. Thomas Aquinas in Rockland County.

Shapers of the World Class at Greenwich High School is in Its Own Renaissance Era
For over 30 years, Greenwich High School has offered the Shapers of the World class, an interdisciplinary course that includes a rigorous English course taught by Mrs. Melissa Brown and an art history class taught by Mr. Ben Quesnel. Given Mr. Q’s experience in studio art, we combined art history lessons with many sessions creating art in GHS’ art studios (although I think he’d like to erase my Botero-style painting from his memory forever).
