A nurse manager at an emergency room in Bridgeport says she has seen an uptick of patients coming in with respiratory issues. "Respiratory diseases like COPD, asthma sometimes those symptoms can be made a lot worse because of the heat." says Kelly Tenney, a nurse manager for the emergency department at St. Vincent Medical Center. Tenny encourages anyone experiencing symptoms related to difficulty breathing to visit the emergency room. "It is hot! We do see dehydration, nausea, vomiting sometimes can be related to the heat as well, added Tenney. "Very simple tasks can really take a toll on you where you experience that general fatigue, so really listening to your body and remembering when to seek help." Tenny says the hospital is anticipating a high volume of visits to the emergency room and is prepared to care for any patients who arrive. "
