Coronel has second consecutive shutout for Red Bulls in tie with Union
CHESTER, Pa. — Andrew Rick tied his career high with five saves Saturday night for Philadelphia in a 0-0 tie with the New York Red Bulls and the Union snapped a five-game losing skid. Philadelphia (4-9-9) is winless in nine straight. The 18-year-old Rick made his third career start and posted his first shutout. He stopped a shot by Dante Vanzeir — who had slipped behind the defense for a one-on-one opportunity — in the 22nd minute, batted away Cameron Harper's clean shot from near the right corner of the 6-yard box and parried a shot by Dennis Gjengaar from point-blank range in the 87th. New York (9-4-9) is unbeaten, with four ties, in five consecutive games. Carlos Coronel, who finished with five saves, had his second consecutive shutout and his fourth of the season for New York.

Simon’s Heart Conshohocken Bike Race Day – August 18th
We are about a month and a half away from what is hopefully the first annual Simon’s Heart Criterium Bike Race in Conshohocken. Without seeing the map and before I talked to the organizers, I thought it was a long distance race that would be passing through Conshohocken similar to the way the bike race would go through Philadelphia and come through Manyunk. You know Conshohocken has plenty of hills that could have been a tough stretch of a larger race. As it turns out, the entire race takes place in Conshohocken in a somewhat small footprint.

Kehoe Rodgers: Seeing clearly with the help of goggles
I didn’t hear her say it, I wasn’t there. But when my daughter repeated to me what a beautiful little 3-year-old said, I jumped for joy (not literally, those days are long gone thanks to my zeal for diving for loose balls and sliding into second). But my heart skipped, for sure. Because Nora, my niece Jill’s oldest daughter, said three words that gave me hope, gave me reason to look forward to the future, and gave me reason to believe there is justice in the world.

Big Events Like the Olympics Matter — Just Not the Way You Think
One of my favorite books about city-making is Dan Doctoroff’s account of his years as deputy mayor of New York City, Greater Than Ever. The book chronicles New York’s post-9/11 transformation, which was catalyzed in no small part by Doctoroff’s quest to host the 2012 Olympics there. The creation of Hudson Yards in Midtown Manhattan, Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn, new stadiums for the Yankees and Mets, and more all came out of efforts for the ultimately doomed bid.

While Temple has added five verbal commitments to its 2025 class, the Owls’ staff has also been extending offers to the 2026 class as well. With a continued commitment to recruiting in Florida, Temple offered Sean Rademacher, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman from Kissimmee’s Tohopekaliga High School. Rademacher reported the Owls’ offer as his 11th on a list that also includes Cal, Duke, TCU, Pitt and Louisville.
