BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — For a workweek in August, the Citynet Center at the Bridge Sports Complex will be closed to the public.

The Bridge announced in a press release that the closure will allow for pool maintenance, court refinishing and “other deep cleaning or maintenance projects.” The center will be shut down starting Aug. 19 and could be closed for up to five days, the release said.

The facility stayed open during its 2023 projects, but “many patrons and staff members found the fumes to be unpleasant,” and because the pool would be closed for several days regardless while workers drain and refill it, officials decided to fully close the facility this year.

“Closing the Citynet Center to complete all annual projects at one time will benefit our members and the community by reducing unplanned closures and providing a clean, modern facility. Staff will work diligently to complete projects as efficiently as possible and minimize the length of the closure,” General Manager Droo Callahan said in the release.

Outdoor facilities including the baseball fields, turf field and running trail will remain open.
