BRIDGETON — A city man is accused of a killing a man with a broken beer bottle here Sunday night.

Regino Hernandez-Morales allegedly attacked 23-year-old Gildardo Sanchez-Ramos around 10:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Walnut Street, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Sanchez-Ramos, a Bridgeton resident, was one of two homicide victims in Cumberland County over the weekend.

A 52-year-old woman was shot Saturday night in an apparent murder-suicide at her home in Hopewell, said the county prosecutor's office.

The victim's husband, 52, was dead at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In the Bridgeton incident, Sanchez-Ramos suffered a large stab wound to his neck. He was taken by acquaintances to Inspira Regional Medical Center, according to a police account.

A resident of South East Avenue, Sanchez-Ramos died at the hospital on Monday morning.

Hernandez-Morales allegedly attacked the victim with a broken bottle during an argument outside the suspect's home, the prosecutor's office said.

Officers recovered the suspected murder weapon at the crime scene.

Hernandez-Morales is charged with murder and weapons offenses. The charge is only an allegation and he has not been convicted in the case.

The prosecutor's office also did not disclose the names of the Hopewell couple, citing privacy rules for domestic violence matters.

It identified the woman as A.M. and the man as J.M.

Police found the couple's bodies after responding to their home around 10:45 p.m.

Investigators found no sign of forced entry or foul play by a third party, the prosecutor's office said.
