BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WROC) — Adrian Jules Custom Clothing is celebrating 60 years in business.
They are recognized as the country’s longest-running and family-owned maker of custom clothes. It started with the American dream:

Adriano Roberti and Guilio “Jules” Volentare were immigrants and master tailors. Roberti arrived in America in 1954.

“He came over from Italy with just $33 in his pocket,” said Peter E. Roberti, son of Adriano. “What did he have: A dream.”

Adriano and Jules launched Adrian Jules Custom Clothing only 10 years after Roberti arrived in the States. 60 years later, it’s a three-generation business.

“You have to be passionate, almost obsessed with what you’re doing,” said Peter E., the president of retail sales. His son, Peter A., is the V.P. of retail sales. Peter E.’s brother, Arnald, is the company’s CEO.

Peter A. fell in love with the business seeing the tailors work in the Irondequoit factory.

“There was something about that about… It felt like it was part of me, my DNA, it was the cloth I was cut from,” said Peter A.

To this day, a team of 80 specialist tailors continue to make the custom clothing, by hand, in the Irondequoit factory. But that custom clothing process begins at the Brighton showroom, with a bespoke consultation

“Everything is designed for your lifestyle,” said Peter A. “Each garment we design, from the fabric to the way it fits, it’s all designed on how they want to dress… and who they want to be in front of.”

“You can buy a suit anywhere, you can’t ‘the suit’ anywhere,” Peter E. added.

Clothes from Adrian Jules, have been worn by U.S. Presidents, Mickey Mantle, Sylvester Stallone, NFL Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy, and more.

The secrets to their success, Peter E. says are integrity, doing the right thing by the customer, and building the community. And the reward… Fits just right

“(A) gentleman put on the garment, walked out with tears in his eyes, he says I have never felt so good in a garment,” Peter E. said

“Because of clothing, we help clients become the best version of themselves,” said Peter A

In addition to custom clothing, Adrian Jules-branded items can be found at 200 retail stores nationwide. But “the Peters” are still looking to grow the business, six decades later.
