Highlighting History: Emancipation Day declared in Tupelo
TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – July 15 has been officially declared Emancipation Day in the City of Tupelo. The proclamation, which was made Monday night, was read aloud by Ward 4 Councilwoman Nettie Davis following a program from Dr. Carl B. Mack about why July 15 is an important part of local Black history.

PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) – A 6-year-old died during a crash that happened in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. The crash occurred around 3:43 p.m. on Highway 278 on Friday. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, an SUV drove off the highway and overturned, resulting in the death of the 6-year-old passenger.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – A woman said a man exposed himself to her in a shopping center parking lot in Tupelo. The incident occurred Saturday outside TJ Maxx on Mall Drive in the Barnes Crossing area. The woman told police the suspect who exposed himself was a young man.
