Fundraisers have been organized to raise money for the owners and employees of the Nevis grocery store that went up in flames on Tuesday morning.

Northwoods Grocery & Cafe , a popular cafe and gas station located at 200 Bunyan Trail Drive in Nevis, suffered vast damage when it caught fire on Tuesday.

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported at 5:48 a.m., with local firefighters and police arriving on the scene to find the store "actively burning."

The daughter of the owners, John and Mary Carrier, created a GoFundMe to help them with any expenses they may need while rebuilding.

"John and Mary have lived in the community for the last six years, meeting new people, making friends with the regulars, and enjoying the small-town atmosphere it provides," the GoFundMe reads.

An employee of the cafe also posted a GoFundMe to help the employees go through the "rough transition period."

"We are in shock about the building fire," the employee explained. "We will miss the daily interactions with the community."

The employee writes that they are all dependent on the income and tips to "pay bills and survive," so to not detract from the owners' fundraising efforts, they created their own page.

"The business received extensive damage," the initial press release said. "The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office."
