    Special Olympics athlete from Hector killed in crash days before her wedding

    A Special Olympics competitor from Hector was tragically killed in a car crash in Renville County on Sunday, days before she was set to be married.

    Katie Dupre-Roush, 36, was a passenger in the car and headed home from work when the crash happened just minutes from her house on July 21.

    She was employed at nursing homes as a cook and dietary nutritionist, and also competed for the Hutchinson Area Storm Special Olympics team in basketball and bowling .

    She was less than two weeks shy from getting married to her fiancé, Christopher Roush, on July 29.

    Her sister Amanda Kleidon and cousin, Ally Owens , set up GoFundMe campaigns to raise money for the unexpected funeral.

    “She was 36 years old. Had a big, bright future ahead of her. She was about to get married to her fiancé ... so anything people can help with will be greatly appreciated,” her's sister GoFundMe reads.

    Her funeral will be on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and open to the public.
