    These big bamboo birds just landed at Blithewold. Here's how to see them.

    BRISTOL – First, giant trolls came to Ninigret Park .

    Then, life-sized elephants came to Rough Point in Newport .

    Now, the smallest state is getting another outsized outdoor exhibit, as the Big Beautiful Bamboo Birds have landed at Blithewold estate in Bristol.

    The bird sculptures, some of which are 30 feet tall, are made by The Myth Makers, Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein, and are fashioned out of upcycled materials, according to a news release. The duo have created similar bird statues that were on display in Boston, Salem, Lowell and other cities.

    There will be six bird sculptures at Blithewold , including:

    • A 15-foot-tall eastern bluebird
    • A 20-foot-tall peahen with a 20-foot-long tail
    • A 25-foot-tall owl
    • A 30-foot-tall sandhill crane
    • A 20-foot-tall “queenfisher” or female kingfisher

    When will the birds be at Blithewold? The Big Beautiful Bamboo Birds will be at Blithewold from Saturday, July 27, 2024, until Aug. 11, 2025.

    When can you visit Blithewold? Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 per adult, $6 for children between 6 and 10 years old, $10 for children between 11 and 16 years old, or $45 for two adults and two children. General admission tickets are good for the whole day, and come with access to the manor and the gardens.
