Fulton County man charged under harassment law in effect only two days
FULTON COUNTY, NY (WRGB) — A Saint Johnsville man faces a felony charge of aggravated harassment of a judge, just two days after the law defining that offense took effect. Edward McGowan was arrested at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, it is alleged that McGowan threatened to physically attack a judge after being arraigned on charges related to another separate domestic violence incident at the Fulton County Centralized Arraignment Court. The presiding judge set bail in connection with the original charges, which reportedly led to McGowan making threats.

SCOTIA, NY (WRGB) — The Scotia-Glenville Central School district is mourning Sunday, after the death of Glen-Worden Elementary Principal Nicholas Criscone. In a letter to district families, Supt. Last Thursday, the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States had its summer meeting in Pittsburgh. There was hope from some operators in the US that New York’s 51% sports betting tax rate would decrease. However, it was discussed at the meeting last week that New York cannot go any lower than the 51% tax rate they already have. Troy Mackey, the coordinator of the New York Assembly’s Racing & Wagering Committee, had this to say about there not being any room to change their tax rate.
