Spring Theatre is gearing up for a high energy weekend filled with singing, dancing, and lots of laughs. Urinetown is a hilarious and socially-conscious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. A joyful and biting socio-political satire, Urinetown is set in fictional yet not-so-distant future in which a 20-year drought has crippled the world's water supply, and rising tensions spark class warfare between the rebelling poor and the corporate elite -- all set to music which serves as a love letter to Broadway.
Lightning strike at Sanford Golf Course puts nearly half the carts out of commission
SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — Nearly half of the golf carts at Sanford Municipal Golf Course are temporarily out of commission due to a lightning event Sunday evening. According to the city, the course is currently operating with 26 of its 51 golf carts. As a result, those with late-morning tee times will likely not have access to a cart.
OMI breaks ground on new homeless shelter
After years of fundraising and preparation, a crowd gathered Friday and broke ground on Outreach Mission Inc.’s homeless shelter. The Samuel J. Wornom Community Shelter, slated to open in 2025 at the intersection of Third Street and Oakwood Avenue, will be able to house 76 client beds which include four family rooms. A full kitchen and laundry room will also be available. The facility is being built after six years of raising funds from various organizations, trusts, and individuals.

Severe storms and flash flooding cause problems across central NC on Monday afternoon
The chance for severe storms became a reality Monday afternoon in central North Carolina.Shortly before 3:15 p.m. a severe thunderstorm pushed through Durham, Granville, Wake and Franklin counties for a little over an hour.The storm brought flash flooding to some areas, including a service road along side 15-501 in Durham. The driver of a white truck crashed into a hole in the ground while trying to cut the corner and avoid the flooded part of the service road.Dangerously, the crashed truck rested on top of a natural gas line.
